Private Children Law Solicitors
As parents, you may be overwhelmed by questions surrounding the well-being of your children. At Onions and Davies Solicitors, our family law team understands your concerns. With our expertise in Private Law Children matters, we can provide the guidance and support you need in a friendly and supportive way.
Clear Guidance on Children Law Matters
We understand that the issue of parental responsibility and finances can often add to the stress of the situation. As parents, you might feel consumed by questions such as What will happen to the children? Where will they live? How often will they see me or the other parent? Will they have to change schools? Will their other parent change their name?
Under the Children Act 1989, the Court considers various criteria when determining the best interests of a child. Every case is unique, and our team can provide clear legal advice on how the Court is likely to manage and determine matters concerning your children.
Our experienced private child law professionals at Onions and Davies can give clear advice about the law and how it would be applied in your case. We can help with a wide range of child law matters, including but not limited to:
- Parental responsibility and finances
- Child Arrangements Orders
- Variation of Child Arrangements
- Prohibited Steps Orders and Specific Issues Orders
The Court views the welfare of your children as the most paramount consideration in any case, and we will advise you with this in mind.
Get in touch with our specialist family law team at sols@onionsanddavies.co.uk for compassionate guidance and tailored legal solutions in private children law matters – we are here to support you every step of the way.
Resolving Complex Private Child Law Issues with Care and Attention
In some cases, complicating issues related to drink, drugs, or domestic violence may arise. At Onions and Davies, we recognise the significance of these matters, and the Court gives them extra attention. Our skilled team is well-versed in handling such complex situations and can provide the support and representation you need to navigate through them.
If possible, we would encourage parents to reach an agreement between them about what is best for their own children. Court can be a daunting and unfamiliar place and, whilst the Court recognises that you as parents are best placed to make decisions concerning your own children, the Court will impose a decision upon you if this is not possible.
Family Mediation in Shropshire Cheshire or Staffordshire
We strongly advocate for family mediation as a valuable tool to help parents reach agreements in the best interests of their children. Our goal is to encourage parents to find common ground, avoiding the need for Court intervention. Family mediation offers a non-confrontational environment where parties can work together with the help of a neutral mediator to find mutually beneficial solutions. We can refer you to reputable mediators in Shropshire, Cheshire, or Staffordshire and provide further guidance on this beneficial process.
Our Family Mediation Services
Louise Martin is a family mediator and can act for parents who wish to attend family mediation to help make decisions about their children. Louise trained as a family mediator in 2016, and regularly practises as a family mediator alongside her family law work, meaning she has up to date knowledge of the current situation with the family courts.
Louise will encourage parents to take a child-focussed approach in her mediation sessions, which can be face to face or remote via Zoom, and advocates Child-Inclusive Mediation which provides opportunities for children and young people to have their “voices heard directly during the mediation process”, “to help them feel respected and listened to and, at their request, to assist parents or carers to receive, understand and take account of the child’s messages and/or suggestions regarding decisions and arrangements for the child”. These principles are set out under the Family Mediation Council (FMC) Code of Practice for Family Mediators. Louise will arrange a Child-inclusive Mediation where the child has expressed a wish to participate.
Louise regularly co-mediates with colleagues, and is able to talk to clients about how the family mediation setting and venue might best work for them, ensuring that it is a process in which they can trust and feel comfortable. Contact Louise at louise@onionsanddavies.co.uk for further details.
Skilled Representation for Children Act Applications
While we promote family mediation as a first step, we understand that it may not always be possible to reach an agreement. In such cases, our team at Onions and Davies is experienced and well-prepared to handle Children Act applications and represent you throughout the process. With our expertise and dedication, we will ensure your views are represented, and your children’s interests are protected.
