For those people who have separated from their partners or spouses, Family Mediation is a cheaper and quicker alternative to court. Our experience suggests those involved wish to have a safe and secure environment where they can discuss their affairs. Together, we discuss important issues including, the arrangements for any children or, what happens with your finances.
Mediation is an effective means of resolving disputes. Family Mediation is voluntary and confidential. It requires both parties to want to be part of the process. The mediator will act for both clients and will oversee and facilitate discussions between both of you at your mediation appointments.
If you have a dispute with a former partner about finances or matters concerning your children, it is now compulsory to attend at least one session of mediation before you issue proceedings at Court.
If legal proceedings are issued, the Ministry of Justice, Judges and Lay Magistrates who will hear your case, recognise the benefit of mediation. More and more, we see the court directing both parties in family litigation to attend mediation to try to resolve their issues.
We have a dedicated Mediation suite at our offices at 91 Cheshire Street, Market Drayton. We also have our own free car park. Mediation sessions take place at a pre-arranged appointment organised by our Mediation Co-ordinator, Kim Archer. Kim will contact each of you in turn to agree a mutually convenient time for your session to take place.
