SSAFA The Armed Forces Charity
Written by Sarah McDermott, Paralegal in the Private Client Team.
SSAFA is a charity that supports regulars and reserves in the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines and British Army and the Royal Air Force and their families, including anyone who has completed National Service and they are all entitled to lifelong support from SSAFA, no matter how long they have served.
SSAFA support servicepeople in many ways should this be direct support to individuals in need of physical or emotional care. This can include, addiction, relationship breakdown, debt, homelessness, post-traumatic stress, depression and disability are all issues that can affect our members of our Armed Forces community. Many of these problems only become apparent when an individual has to leave their life in the Forces and join ‘Civvy Street’.
Walking for SSAFA – chrisandjetwalkuk
I recently came across Chris and his cause very late on in his mission when he appeared on Ben Fogle – Lives in the Wild – in fact his latest post on Instagram is that he, and now his family, as they turn the corner for home, for the first time in 5 years.
Chris’s mission is to walk the entire UK Coast including all the islands in aid of SSAFA, being an ex-serviceman himself, serving with the 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment, he couldn’t think of a better charity to support.
To date, he and his family who are completing this mission with him, have raised a staggering £323,381 for SSAFA. If you would like to make a donation, please follow the link https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/chriswalks
